I am in this exact spot today. I do not have a portfolio. I do not even have a cogent direction to point myself. It feels very much like the proverbial “career dartboard”. And no one I know seems to be in any position to help, clarify, instruct or mentor. It literally feels like I’m trailblazing the data science jungle with penknife.

So, I slog through, ask questions, read everything I can get my hands on, and keep moving forward. Let’s hope I get to where I need to be before my wife’s patience and/or the unemployment checks run out.
